Our History
1935 – the first services on the site were conducted in a tent
1936 – a church hall was built with choir stalls and an altar at one end for services. The rest of the space was used during the week for social activities
The Second World War delayed the construction of a church building and it was 1957 before work could commence.
1958 – the Bishop of London consecrated the new church
Hans Feibusch painted the mural “The adoration of the cross” behind the Communion table.
1980 -2005 we joined with Holy Trinity Wealdstone and became the Parish of Trinity St. Michael Harrow due to smaller numbers here
1995 the chapel was refurbished
2005 we regained our Parish of St, Michael Harrow Weald
2005 the Pews were removed and replaced with chairs
2006 Open Doors project, Planning and prayers took place until 2014.
2008 Public notice Harrow Observer 17th April 2008 for St, Michael and All Angels Church to be made redundant through the Pastoral Measure of 1983 but this did not go ahead.
2014 Open Doors project was realised. Wykeham hall was demolished. The church was revamped.
A new entrance, refurbishment, different size rooms for church use and hire were provided. Step free access to the entrance of the church and to the Holy Communion table were provided.
2020 churches closed for periods during Covid. Services were available online and continue to be streamed every Sunday.
2025 At Easter the Bible Society published a report called The “Quiet Revival” which indicated a dramatic growth in church attendance among young people, especially those aged 18-34. This report is based on a survey conducted by YouGov, which compared data from 2018 to 2024. The findings reveal that church attendance has risen from 3.7 million (8% of the population) in 2018 to 5.8 million (12% of the population) in 2024.
2025 in July Isaiah 43. 16-21 “See, I am doing a new thing” was shared with the fellowship.
