Small Groups

Small Groups are a way of encouraging friendship and meeting together to strengthen our relationships and to encourage each other in our discipleship is an important part of our life together at St Michael’s. Through relationship we are more open to God’s love and to offering that love to others. Members of the congregation are encouraged to share time together after the Sunday morning services and there is always a pot of coffee brewing and ready for any who come to the church at different times throughout the week.

There are several groups who meet during the week, and the outline below will give you an idea of the variety available.

Adderley Road Fellowship Group

The Wednesday evening Fellowship Group meets weekly throughout the year to discuss, read and learn how to connect with God through the Bible. The group recently started looking at Premier Christian Radio’s booklet “Voice of Hope” series “Be Still and Know” Bible-based devotionals – reading a passage of scripture, answering a question and a short prayer.

The Advent course for 2014 was a study guide called “Making Room for Jesus” by Liz Babbs who is a keynote speaker and spiritual director from the USA. The book invited exploration of a variety of Bible characters to see how they made room for Jesus. The journey continues in 2015 with a new beginning and fresh challenges as the group continues on their Christian spiritual journey of faith and witness.

Growing Together

Growing Together is a group which meets in order to explore together specific aspects of the faith, normally based on a biblical theme.  The group has studied books of the Bible, in particular Luke’s Gospel, and also exploring the Old Testament and linking this to the story of Jesus found in the New Testament.
